#70, Dinki Clubhouse

The Dinki Clubhouse is the heart of the residence as our ladies stay in private accommodation.

Dinki Ladies Residence was established in 1976, making us the oldest day residence in the history of the North-West University Potchefstroom Campus. Therefore, we are proud to boast of our stylish past.

Dinki is a value-driven residence that is managed with passion and heart. Dinki is all about family and sisterhood. We strive to help ladies grow into stylish adults and take absolute pride in everything we do, while having loads of fun along the way, learning, helping, and loving.

Dinki is passionate about everything we do, and we do not hesitate to dream big. We always challenge ourselves and stand together to make our dreams come true.  

Dinki is centrally located on campus, with our office next to the Pukki shop by the amphitheatre and our clubhouse opposite the F10 building. The small office is open Monday to Friday from 12:00 to 14:00 and it is a hive of activity, we encourage you to come and see for yourself. Everyone is welcome.

Our vision for the residence is to offer ladies a fair chance to actively participate in the student life on the NWU Potchefstroom Campus, to offer each lady an equal chance to develop her talents and gifts in well-established residence activities, and to offer each lady the opportunity to find herself and settle down in a residence with close friendly ties.

The mission of the residence is to create women who, after completing their studies, can go out into the world as mature, stylish and professional women. Dinki is strongly based on four pillars. Stylish image, active involvement, unity that makes a difference, and absolute pride.

Dinki is a day house, and while we don’t have accommodation facilities, our club house and office is a place of refuge for our girls.

Dear new Dinki first year

You’ve heard many stories about university life, and I'm sure the phrase “Your university years are the best years of your life” was one of them. And it’s all true! You are on the threshold of being a student and new things await you. You are excited but also a little scared of what is to come.

There is room for everyone, because in Dinki we let the sun shine on each other. We build each other up, carry each other’s burdens and make sure that we bring out the best in each other.

If values and respect form a big part of your vocabulary and humanity, you will quickly feel at home. Here we may differ from one another, provided it is done with respect. It is precisely our uniqueness that make us a colourful residence.

You are going to make friends like never before and that is why we focus on developing each other’s best qualities. This is a family that supports each other, that stands together and protects each other's honour and reputation wherever we go.

It is such a privilege to be a woman and that is why we want to help you develop your womanhood, your uniqueness and your talents. It is a place where we help each other to be a better person than the day before. We are a cheerful bunch who can chat, laugh, play and make jokes. But we also make time for the deeper and more serious things in life. When we play, we play hard. When we work, we work hard. And through it all we strive to give our best and we live as grateful young women who make a difference in the lives of others.

Your womanhood is your crown. Your word is your honour. Your talent is from God and what you give back is your gift to Him. We honour God, each other and ourselves.
